Hue is an open-source web application for querying databases & data warehouses whose goal is to make self service data querying more widespread in organizations using one or more components of the Hadoop ecosystem. Widely used since inception in 2011, Hue is preeminently available in the hybrid cloud offering from Cloudera as well as the Hadoop services of the cloud service providers Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.

Whether you're a long time user, or whether Hue is new for you, this meetup will catch you up to all the latest capabilities and innovations we've added recently. Since the release of the Cloudera Data Platform, we have looked to Hue to be the SQL developer tool of choice. For long time users of Hue, we have added in capabilities familiar to users of Hortonworks' Data Analytics Studio. For everyone, we have enhanced Hue's data browsing capabilities with an AWS S3 Bucket Browser, and csv file import. We've also added features to keep up with the latest innovations in Impala, Hive and Spark.

Join David Dichmann, Director of Product Management at Cloudera, to see him showcase some favorite new capabilities with live product demonstrations and for your chance to ask questions and learn the future of Hue. We will also have a raffle of Cloudera tchotchkes.

if you're completely unfamiliar with Hue, here's a blast from Hue's distant past to get you warmed up:

This is still a tricky time for public gatherings, but Future of Data is committed to providing great tech content & facilitating discussions in the "Big Data" space. Our group in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is holding this event; in order to do our part to fight the spread of COVID-19's Omicron variant, this will be an exclusively online event originating in Eastern Standard Time (the event time displayed on this page will reflect the equivalent local time). We thought it might be of interest to our wider membership (you are welcome to sign up for it here).
