Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 6:00:00 PM Wayside Waifs 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO

Continuing our tradition of helping a local non-profit organization with our Photo Walk assets, this year we are going to focus our evening (and lenses) on Wayside Waifs.

Since 1944, Wayside Waifs has been serving the homeless pets of Kansas City. Wayside Waifs is a comprehensive animal welfare organization providing: animal rescue, shelter veterinary care, retail pet boutique, pet adoptions, off-leash dog park, humane education programs for more than 30,000 school children each year, volunteer opportunities, secure pet care for local domestic violence shelters and pet memorial services and cemetery.

Wayside Waifs is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. Wayside is the largest no kill pet adoption campus in Kansas City, placing approximately 5,400 animals each year. Wayside does not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Only animals suffering from significant medical issues or those that pose a danger are humanely euthanized. Wayside Waifs is proud to be a part of Kansas City's no kill community.

After the photowalk we will post our best images to a website. Wayside Waifs will select the prize-winning photo. The photos become available to the nonprofit to use as they see fit in their marketing and promotion (with the provision that our members can use their own photos in their portfolios).

Don't forget we will draw for the Creative Cloud annual subscription in the raffle drawing and you must be present to win! We will adjourn from Wayside Waifs to dinner/drinks at 54th Street Grill, about a mile away. The social part of the evening is optional, but it will be nice to gather informally after our photo walk!

Wayside Waifs is located in south Kansas City at 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.

See you Tuesday night, June 4, at 6:00 pm!

**THIS IS A 2-DAY, 2-PART CLASS. FIRST PART IS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 1ST, NOON-5:00PM. SECOND PART IS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 2ND, NOON UNTIL YOUR KNIFE IS COMPLETED.**

Learn the art of knife smithing as you create a beautiful damascus utility knife.

These are a long time favorite of our instructor. A beautiful and compact knife based on a skinning knife that makes itself useful on a daily basis.

The wood grain pattern of damascus style laminate steel is highlighted by your choice of a variety of exotic hard woods for the handle.

On day 1 we will be shaping the knife in our workshop. Learn to profile your knife, apply a bevel and create a blade. Apply intricate filework to the spine or add a hole for a lanyard. At the end of this class (or the beginning of class 2) we will heat treat our blades, and acid etch them to bring out the patterns in the steel.

On day 2 we will learn how to attach a handle with brass pins. We will shape and finish the handles and finish and polish and sharpen the blades.

There will be a short intermission on both days, so you are welcome to bring food and drinks with you (break room fridge available).

Mobile applications require cloud services for actions that can't be done directly on the device, such as offline data synchronization, storage, or data sharing across multiple users. One option is to design, configure, manage these services yourself but the easier, faster, and more scalable solution is to leverage Amazon's collection of services for mobile applications.
