Learn some sewing machine basics as you create your very own "ugly doll" (AKA cuties with character). In this class we will be using sewing machines and hand embroidery to stitch together various shapes, and add buttons and details. All materials are included, but you are welcome to bring some of your own fabrics, buttons, etc to include in your creation. Outside food and drink are welcome. This will be a fun, casual, social event. Suggested age range: 9 to 109 years old. :-)

**FYI: The class price is per Ugly Doll, not per person, so adults are welcome to attend with their children at no additional cost if you are both making one ugly doll together.

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

Having trouble finding time to write your blog post. Me too.

I want to have a dedicated time to work on my blog post each week, I figured it would be great to schedule a time to blog and be with other WordPress people.

Let's get together and write and talk some, but be a support network to get our blog posts written.

This is not a help session, it is to post blogs.

This is not an information session, it is to post on your own website.

I plan on two in the morning per Month on Tuesdays or Wednesdays... Depending on my teaching schedule. Hope you to see you there.

NOTE - The library has free wifi. If you want a secure internet connection, bring your own hotspot - one will not be provided. The library does have secure computers right outside the conference 2 meeting room. The meeting room will change based on availability

Redux-Observable is an amazingly powerful middleware for Redux using RxJS. It's more-versatile than simple reducers and simplifies managing complex async state patterns. Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 6:00:00 PM Stowers Institute 1000 E 50th St, Kansas City,

Please join us for an evening of looking at the exciting past month of PHP news and learning about interesting concepts and projects in PHP and software development.

Light refreshments will be provided. Join us to meet new people, discuss PHP, and learn something new.

Our Evening Meeting Format

We love Web Development and all things PHP. Our meetings are often a little free-formed, but we shoot for this schedule:

6:00pm - Mingling / Meet and Greet

6:15pm - Lightning Talk: Last Month in PHP

6:30pm - Matt Coleman: Laravel Collections and Eloquent
Eloquent is a database agnostic, ActiveRecord implementation for working with a databases used by Laravel. Collections are a syntactic wrapper around arrays that allow you to write cleaner code easier and with less lines. Since Eloquent uses Collections we will go over the basics of both.

Your topic here? Contact us to speak (http://www.meetup.com/kcphpug/suggestion/)!

Rate the talks!

All Developers Welcome!

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious and just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Zend Framework, Silex, Slim, Laravel, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla; our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Interested in giving a presentation to the group, or demoing something you're working on? Contact one of the organizers through Meetup or talk after a monthly meeting to sign up!

Park in the garage and enter the main building to the west of the garage. Follow the signs and turn right at the security desk. Click here for event

RESCHEDULE OF 2/19 Meetup @ new Location

Abstract:

The economics of the Cloud continues to dictate the need for radical changes to language runtimes. In this session learn about how OpenJDK with the Eclipse OpenJ9 JVM is leading the way in creating an enterprise strength, industry leading Java runtime that provides the operational characteristics most needed for Java applications running in the Cloud: efficient memory use, fast start-up, and releasing resources when idle. Whether deploying micro-services or more traditional Java applications the combination of OpenJDK with Eclipse OpenJ9 can help you reduce operational costs across the board.
