Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 4:00:00 PM SMG 1737 Mcgee St, Kansas City,

Session Topic: CodeJam

**Please note the extended hours starting at 4 PM**

You MUST register on Eventbrite to attend: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/coding-cocktails-codejam-tickets-49412482064?aff=meetup

Join us for our monthly coding series, Coding & Cocktails. Women are invited to attend sessions to get an introduction to website building in a fun, laid-back atmosphere.

In our final session of the year, we set you up in a microenvironment that mimics a software development team in the wild. Working together with a mentor acting as the 'team lead,' your team of two or three will work to build a web site from scratch using whatever tools you feel comfortable using. Alternatively, you can also work towards making a contribution to an open source project to boost your code portfolio! Don't worry about making your own team; we'll pair you up with other participants as you arrive, or you can let us know if you want to work with another participant you know.

Note: As a special offering since this is our last session of the year, we are extending the hours from 4 PM - 9 PM to give you more time to work.

There will be lots of guidance and support for those with little to no coding experience so come join the fun!

Attendance at previous sessions is helpful but not required - lean on the available mentors to help if you were unable to join our other sessions, there are no stupid questions!
Wifi-enabled laptop is required (don't have one? Borrow one of ours)
Must be at least 21 to attend
Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and dinner served
Please familiarize yourself with Kansas City Women in Technology's Code of Conduct.
Do you need financial assistance to attend? View codingandcocktails.kcwomenintech.org/financialaid for more information.

If you are unable to attend, you must cancel 48 hours prior to the event to receive a refund!

You MUST register on Eventbrite to attend: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/coding-cocktails-codejam-tickets-49412482064?aff=meetup

This is a planning meeting, but if you have a Raspberry Pi cluster, bring it to show off. The goal of this meeting is to plan for the development of a new users group, Super Pi-KC, dedicated to teaching and learning about cluster computing using the Raspberry Pi and other small scale computers. I'm open to suggestions on how this group might work, but to start off the discussion, I've outlined some of my ideas at http://blog.pmean.com/super-pi/. I will give a short presentation about the small steps I have taken so far with my cluster of three Pis, and if anyone else is interested in sharing what they know about cluster computing, I'll put you on the agenda. Send me an email, or leave a message on meetup.com.

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:00:00 PM Stowers Institute 1000 E 50th St, Kansas City,

Please join us for an evening of looking at the exciting past month of PHP news and learning about interesting concepts and projects in PHP and software development.

Light refreshments will be provided. Join us to meet new people, discuss PHP, and learn something new.

Our Evening Meeting Format

We love Web Development and all things PHP. Our meetings are often a little free-formed, but we shoot for this schedule:

6:00pm - Mingling / Meet and Greet

6:15pm - Lightning Talk: Last Month in PHP

6:30pm - TBA

Your topic here? Contact us to speak (http://www.meetup.com/kcphpug/suggestion/)!

Rate the talks!

All Developers Welcome!

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious and just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Zend Framework, Silex, Slim, Laravel, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla; our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Interested in giving a presentation to the group, or demoing something you're working on? Contact one of the organizers through Meetup or talk after a monthly meeting to sign up!

Park in the garage and enter the main building to the west of the garage. Follow the signs and turn right at the security desk. Click here for event

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

Having trouble finding time to write your blog post. Me too.

I want to have a dedicated time to work on my blog post each week, I figured it would be great to schedule a time to blog and be with other WordPress people.

Let's get together and write and talk some, but be a support network to get our blog posts written.

This is not a help session, it is to post blogs.

This is not an information session, it is to post on your own website.

I plan on two in the morning per Month on Tuesdays or Wednesdays... Depending on my teaching schedule. Hope you to see you there.

NOTE - The library has free wifi. If you want a secure internet connection, bring your own hotspot - one will not be provided. The library does have secure computers right outside the conference 2 meeting room. The meeting room will change based on availability

Please RSVP so that we know how many snacks & drinks to bring.

Civic Heroes of all types welcome! This event is for coders and non-coders alike -- as long as you're interested in making government more transparent and building interesting things for our city, you're more than welcome!

Bring a laptop: If you intend on getting some hands-on hacking done (it's ok if you can't but it definitely helps to have one).

If you have something you'd like to work on or are excited about, please let us know via the meetup or at the hack night itself. We are growing our initiative and the energy comes from the community.

Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 7:00:00 PM Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen 1526 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO
