With the new Elm 0.19 release, Evan rewrote the parser package. Tristan Bull will explain how the new API works. He will also demonstrate how it can be used in practice with an HTML parser he wrote.

Next, Stephen Reddekopp will discuss the issues around parent-child communication that arise when growing an Elm application. He will explain the most popular approaches to dealing with the problem, show some packages that can help, and share what has worked for the team at SMRxT.

Big thanks to Softek Illuminate for hosting us yet again!

Illuminate's building is #5 in the complex. We will be in the conference room on the first floor. Click here for event

Next Chapter Meeting - January 2, 2019
  • Topic: Cyber Business Communication & Metrics
  • Sponsor (food & drink): TBA
  • Facilitator: Jill Allison
Chapter Meeting DETAILS:

TopicSecurity has an unprecedented opportunity to empower management to drive a proactive security agenda for their organizations. Security practitioners must try to see cybersecurity as management sees it: a business imperative, something that should align with risk appetite and business priorities.

Traditionally, security leaders have presented a mass of technical and security operation metrics, which can fail to make a mark and engender trust in their ability as enterprise security leaders. The majority of leaders find it a challenge to understand what management is looking for and provide the required information in a framework that resonates. Practitioners need to engage in meaningful conversations with management and be accepted as equal partners in business conversations rather than compliance chasers, technology spenders, and/or one-way cost centers.

FacilitatorJill Allison brings over 30 years of cybersecurity industry and enterprise risk leadership experience for government, research and corporate organizations. She is currently a CISO advisor for Kudelski Security. She has served on the leadership team for the Manhattan Cyber Project, National Biometric Security Project (NBSP), and led the strategic alliance for the first cybersecurity insurance cover offered by Cigna, SAIC and Pinkertons. She earned a BA in Economics from Gustavus Adolphus College, MIM in Technology from Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, and Wharton MBA in Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management. Jill is currently pursuing CISO Certification from Carnegie Mellon University. For the past 15 years Jill has served as a Volunteer Leader with ASIS International, IT Security and Women in Security Councils, and Member of the CSO Center for Leadership and Development. She is a longstanding Advisory Board member for the Cyber Security Summit.

Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 7:00:00 PM Denny's Restaurant 1600 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City,

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

Having trouble finding time to write your blog post. Me too.

I want to have a dedicated time to work on my blog post each week, I figured it would be great to schedule a time to blog and be with other WordPress people.

Let's get together and write and talk some, but be a support network to get our blog posts written.

This is not a help session, it is to post blogs.

This is not an information session, it is to post on your own website.

I plan on two in the morning per Month on Tuesdays or Wednesdays... Depending on my teaching schedule. Hope you to see you there.

NOTE - The library has free wifi. If you want a secure internet connection, bring your own hotspot - one will not be provided. The library does have secure computers right outside the conference 2 meeting room. The meeting room will change based on availability

* "Can I please get some hands-on time with your products?"
* "I want to hear from your developers, not just high-level folks!"u
* "I want to hear from your executives about your company's technology directions!"
* "I need to hear from your customers how they have successfully implemented solutions with your products!"
* "Will I be able to network before, during AND after the conference events, especially for different brands, products, and services?"
