Having trouble finding time to write your blog post. Me too.

I want to have a dedicated time to work on my blog post each week, I figured it would be great to schedule a time to blog and be with other WordPress people.

Let's get together and write and talk some, but be a support network to get our blog posts written.

This is not a help session, it is to post blogs.

This is not an information session, it is to post on your own website.

I plan on two in the morning per Month on Tuesdays or Wednesdays... Depending on my teaching schedule. Hope you to see you there.

NOTE - The library has free wifi. If you want a secure internet connection, bring your own hotspot - one will not be provided. The library does have secure computers right outside the conference 2 meeting room. The meeting room will change based on availability

Learn something new recently? Started using a new tool?

Join KC Mobile Devs, JavaScript KC, and GDG Kansas City for a night of lightning talks.

What's a lightning talk?
Lightning talks are designed to be short presentations between five and ten minutes long, but are usually capped at five minutes. Talks are arranged one after the other during the sessions. Lightning talks are brief which requires the speaker to make their point clearly and rid the presentation of non-critical information. This causes the audience to be more attentive to the speaker and gain a broader array of knowledge from the presentations given.
-Wikipedia

Attendees interested in presenting can signup to give a short, 5 minute talk on any topic they want (preferably technology-related please). Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes. This is meant to be a fun, light competition. It won't be an intense, heavily structured point system. Please let us know if you interested in speaking by filling out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/UwcSjYVjTpxdDHS22

Not interested in speaking? No problem! Other attendees can learn about multiple about multiple topics.

Schedule:
6:30 - Doors open for networking and food
7:00 - Introduction
7:10 - Lightning talks
8:00 - End of talks and giveaways

Food and beverages will be provided.

Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 6:00:00 PM Stowers Institute 1000 E 50th St, Kansas City,

Please note this month's meeting date has changed! This meeting will occur on the *second* Wednesday, December 12th.

Advent of Code is a holiday-themed coding challenge. https://adventofcode.com/2018/about

During the meeting we will begin coding starting on challenge from Day 1. We will work as a group (mob programming style) with one person driving the keyboard but everyone making suggestions and ideas on how to code it. Often we use test-driven development (TDD) to design a solution and test that it works.

Feel free to sit and observe or offer your own coding suggestions! Everyone is welcome.

Schedule:
6:00pm - Mingling / Meet and Greet
6:15pm - Lightning Talk: Last Month in PHP
6:30pm - Hack Night - Advent of Code

Attendees will have the chance to ask questions or give short presentations, or sit back and just observe! No programming or PHP experience required :)

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious and just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Zend Framework, Silex, Slim, Laravel, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla; our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Interested in giving a presentation to the group, or demoing something you're working on? Contact one of the organizers through Meetup or talk after a monthly meeting to sign up! http://www.meetup.com/kcphpug/suggestion/

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

We will be joining up with Google Developers Group (GDGKC) and KC Mobile Developers to put on Lightning Talks!

The format is very simple, anyone is willing to step up and present 3-5 minutes on any topics related to the web or mobile development. In the past, we've seen new frameworks, code samples, tool demonstrations, or even just bringing up a README for a new project you recently discovered.

No preparation required, this is just a chance to introduce your local dev community to some new ideas to explore in 2019. If you're looking to expand your ability to get up in front of a group of people, this is also a great place to start!

Please let us know if you interested in speaking by filling out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/UwcSjYVjTpxdDHS22

Not interested in speaking? No problem! Other attendees can learn about multiple about multiple topics.

Schedule:

7:10 - Lightning talks
8:00 - End of talks and giveaways

With the new Elm 0.19 release, Evan rewrote the parser package. Tristan Bull will explain how the new API works. He will also demonstrate how it can be used in practice with an HTML parser he wrote.

Next, Stephen Reddekopp will discuss the issues around parent-child communication that arise when growing an Elm application. He will explain the most popular approaches to dealing with the problem, show some packages that can help, and share what has worked for the team at SMRxT.

Big thanks to Softek Illuminate for hosting us yet again!

Illuminate's building is #5 in the complex. We will be in the conference room on the first floor. Click here for event
