The power of avoiding and detecting fraud in advance is clear: a few hours can have a major impact on losses. There are a host of challenges in all industries – from financial services to retail and healthcare – that need to be addressed to detect fraudulent behavior and suspicious activities. The risk especially to B2C companies is large considering the acceleration of global e-commerce. This is why companies at risk of fraud invest in machine learning as a preemptive approach to tackling this problem.

As a business leader, you ask yourself: how can I start implementing this AI initiative in my organization? What are the initial steps? What should I prioritize? How to measure the outcomes? In this virtual event, we will go over fraud detection and prevention across various industries with real-world examples, demonstrating how H2O.ai has helped some of its customers, such as AT&T and PayPal. The goal is to provide our audience with a playbook on general relevant actions on how to detect and prevent fraud using AI.

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD ONLINE WITH DISCORD: https://discord.gg/wmFHB7y

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

Speaker - Nelson Petracek, CTO, TIBCO Software, Inc

As the world transforms to digital—and companies try to stay relevant while balancing demands for sustainability and social responsibility—effective, efficient, and secure operations are critical. To achieve the level of agility needed to succeed in an increasingly connected world, many organizations are building "digital twins" – digital representations of not only devices and equipment, but also of business processes, people, and even the organization itself.

But what do these digital twins look like? What capabilities are required for a successful digital twin? How can blockchain play a role in enriching their implementation across complex distributed systems? Join this session to discuss these questions, and to hear how blockchain, in conjunction with smart contracts, can drive the next generation of digital twin applications.

As the global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at TIBCO, Nelson Petracek is helping to shape the development of TIBCO's emerging technology platforms and products. With over 20 years of experience, Nelson works to deliver solutions for the next stage of digital business, drawing upon his deep knowledge of cloud, blockchain, low-code applications, microservices, and event processing. A strong technology evangelist, he works with customers to identify and define the appropriate use of various technologies and architectures, and advises on best practices and information delivery patterns. Nelson received his Bachelor of Commerce in Computational Science from the University of Saskatchewan

Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 5:15:00 PM Online event

Jib is a Java containerizer from Google that lets Java developers build containers using build tools like Maven and Gradle.

Containerizing Java applications is not a trivial task and also there is a learning curve involved as you have to get yourself familiar with tool-specific commands etc.

I can say from personal experience that not all Java developers are container experts.

For example, first, you should have docker installed and then you have to maintain a Dockerfile. Then over a period of time, the image size grows and you start trying things like multi-stage builds to reduce your image size and have only required dependency for your application.

A developer ideally should not be worrying about these things. With Jib, you don't deal with such complexities and you just have to add a plugin to your build tool Maven or Gradle and you are good to go. It takes care of your image building and pushing to the container registry.

Title:  Access Shortcuts

Presenter:   Susie Gilson

Description:

How many of these time-savers do you use? A look beyond Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V – except with Excel! Shortcuts for designing objects and for faster data entry. The quick access toolbar will also be discussed.

Bio:  Since the early 2000s, Susie has developed and used many database applications for her various roles with Girl Scouts. Susie also "fixes" the databases her husband brings home. She chides him on using outdated and complex Excel files and converts those to Access for him. Lately, she's been working with her daughter on developing an Access database for product testing. Susie has also been working on developing two databases for dear hubby to use to track metrics and also to make parts listings for projects easier. For some reason, neither daughter nor hubby pay her ...

Q&A Session:

Bring your Access questions for the group to answer, explore or brainstorm ideas.

Upcoming Meetings:

Please consider sharing a presentation with your fellow Access Users.
