Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 7:00:00 PM Denny's Restaurant 1600 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City,

If you do not immediately see us then tell the Denny's staff that you are here for the Kansas City Video Game Developers Meetup group.

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

With the constant race to stay ahead of user needs and experiences, it is easy to lose sight of the users with unique needs. Often, making a site accessible is treated like an enhancement - a nice bonus we may get to…eventually. How can we flip that and make accessibility a central feature of any site? And how can testing serve that goal?

Journey in someone else's shoes during this discussion of accessibility needs and solutions. We will discuss the current state of accessibility and explore methodology for accessibility testing. Throughout we will also discuss methods for facilitating the accessibility conversation and engage all points within the development lifecycle. The majority of the tools discussed require minimal experience and, if you're reading this, you are more than equipped to learn more!

Presenters:

Andrea Johnson - Writer turned coder with a passion for good READMEs. As a technology apprentice at VMLY&R, I'm currently writing automated tests using Selenium, JBehave, Cucumber, Serenity and Jenkins. After learning the hard way, I like teaching the easy way. When I'm not improving my Java skills I love mountain biking. Both involve the possibility of disaster.

John Cardarella – A little mix of Chemist and Teacher, I found a new catalyst in coding. I began my apprenticeship at VMLY&R as an Automated Tester in Selenium with JBehave, Serenity, and Jenkins. I am currently applying what I've learned into a web development role but I enjoy the Automation Practice and do what I can to continue contributing to its growth.

Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 6:00:00 PM Central Exchange 1020 Central St, Kansas City, MO

Signing up on Meetup alone does not secure your spot. YOU MUST sing up via Eventbrite to ensure your ticket! --> https://www.eventbrite.com/e/techtalks-annual-techwalk-tickets-75339294859?aff=meetup

Join us at Central Exchange for our Annual TechWalk and discover what it's really like to be a woman working in the Tech industry (spoiler: It's fabulous)!

The KCWiT TechWalk was first inspired by the viral hashtag #ThisIsWhatAnEngineerLooksLike. KCWiT knows how important it is to help showcase what women working in tech really looks like. So over the past few years, we've invited a diverse crowd of women to walk the catwalk.

The TechWalk doesn't focus on fashion, but simply putting 'faces' to the roles we hear about. The goal is to help people feel inspired by these ladies, and to help those out there who may be considering joining the tech industry know what it truly "looks like" day-to-day.

Bring your confirmation or ticket from Eventbrite to check-in to the event.
