  • If you are taking the Coursera classes on R taught by Jeff Leak, Roger Peng, and Brian Caffo of the Johns Hopkins University, Earl Glynn will be available to discuss the course assignments and help with any questions you might have.
Coursera is for profit company offering massive open online courses in a variety of areas. The Biostatistics Department of Johns Hopkins University is hosting a series of nine classes on Data Science, with a strong emphasis on R in many of these classes.
You can take these classes for free. All of the work is done online and on your own time schedule.
For a fee, you can get a specialization certificate that documents that you successfully completed all the requirements for these classes.
There will be assignments, but you are not required to do these unless you are working towards the specialization certificate.
The first three of these classes,
     - "The Data Scientist's Toolbox"
     - "R Programming" and
     - "Getting and Cleaning Data"
start on April 5. These classes will be repeated again starting on May 5 and June 2, and other classes will open as well on May 5 and June 2.
Earl has taken several Coursera classes and is a beta tester / designated local expert for this series of classes.
Everyone is welcome to attend. You don't have to be part of the paid specialization certificate program to attend. You don't even have to be signed up for the classes in April to attend. If you're curious about Coursera and R, come and find out more.
