Hopefully, you have all heard that Jakarta EE (https://jakarta.ee/) is the new home for Java EE. I will take you on a guided tour of moving this proprietary standard to the open-source, vendor-neutral environment at the Eclipse Foundation. Along the way, you'll learn the many advantages of developing this Enterprise Java framework with a large diverse community. In 2019, we hit a major milestone by releasing Jakarta EE 8. And, in 2020, we plan to ship Jakarta EE 9 which will provide the foundation for all of our development efforts going forward. Finally, I'll also touch on what's on our roadmap and how you can get involved in helping us define this future.
