Once a month, on 3rd Mondays, our Hack Nights now also feature a "Learn Night" educational component. We regularly encounter community members who have info that is relevant to the Brigade--ongoing projects, vexing problems, or tutorials for new skill development.

This Learn Night:
I'm lost: How to find where users lose their way in an application.
User Testing with Lisa Jo Elliott, PhD

Many of us already know the benefits of user testing. It can help us find issues early on in the process or after its live. Solving these issues usually leads to a better design. Learning to do user testing is not complex. (Lisa) Jo Elliott has trained many user testing professionals. She'll talk about the basic procedure, the steps to take, tips and tricks from years of user testing, and how to interpret the results for the development team. You will come away with a better understanding of how to use the tests to your team's best advantage and how to do it on your own. Bring your favorite note taking device. There will be exercises and online resources to share.

Our Learn Nights will be on the mezzanine level of Plexpod Crossroads, so project teams can hack away uninterrupted, but we hope you'll find some topics of interest. These talks are not specifically directed at a technical audience, so they're a great way for non-coders to get involved with Code for KC.

Presentations and Q&A will run from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Hack Night starts at 6, so you'll have some time to mingle with the Brigade and grab some snacks.

Already an expert?
Participate in Hack Night. On the lower level, we're still running our weekly Hack Night, where people interested in helping can joining us to work on our various civic hacking projects to create a better Kansas City. Bring projects, ideas, designs, laptops, data, or friends.
