• What we'll do
Ladies and gents this is first Meetup of the year and it is both exciting and sad. It's exciting because we are going to start the night off with lightning talks! This is your opportunity to give a short 5 minute-ish talk on a library, concept or subject you think we should know about. It'd be great to get 5 people to step up to the mic. If your interested just post in the comments section on the Meetup site.

It's sad because my good friend and co-organizer Piero Ferrante will be leaving KC and stepping down as co-organizer. If you've spent anytime at a DSKC event you ran into Piero. He's been instrumental in building up the data science, machine learning and buzzword bingo community in Kansas City :) He's taught at several local universities, met with many folks over coffee to talk data science and built an amazing data science team at C2FO. In short, his contributions are many.

We'll hear Piero's story on how he got started, pick his brain on favorite algorithms and his new gig and see if he has any words of wisdom for the KC data science community.
