Bio:
Bert Hayes is a native Texan who has lived in Austin since his freshman year at UT. Bert's degree is in Zoology, but his career has been in IT and network security, with several years spent defending public sector networks, and now several years of selling enterprise software to public sector customers. Bert lives with his wife, two kids, a couple of cats, a dog, and a turtle. If he's not working, Bert's probably on his bike, or maybe camping, but definitely outside.

Abstract:
ksqlDB, the database for stream processing applications, is becoming one of the most popular ways to work with Apache Kafka. By the end of this presentation, you will understand the basics of ksqlDB as demonstrated in the ksqlDB 101 course on developer.confluent.io and how you can use Kafka to implement event streaming applications.
