A sister Meetup group, in Boston, is holding this event; in order to do our part to help "flatten the curve" of the spread of COVID-19, this will be an online event that will be held in the Eastern Daylight Time Zone. We thought it might be of interest to our membership (you are welcome to sign up for it here).

Hello, Kafka! (An Introduction to Apache Kafka)

Our "Hello, " series of introductory "Big Data" topic-focused meetups returns to Boston in July as we deliver our fifth event.

This "101 level" meetup will introduce you to Apache Kafka without assuming you've heard anything about the Apache development project, the problems that Kafka was designed to solve or the role it currently plays in modern enterprise data architectures.

What exactly is Apache Kafka and what does the phrase "reliable distributed messaging system" really mean in practice? What are the most important use cases which demonstrate Kafka's most compelling features? In what ways does a Kafka cluster support fault tolerance and high availability? We'll answer these questions and more!

This is still a tricky time for public gatherings, but Future of Data is committed to providing great tech content & facilitating discussions in the streaming data space. This will be an exclusively online event that will be held in the Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) zone (but the event time displayed on this page will reflect the equivalent local time).

Join Principal Field Engineer Tim Spann and Principal Solutions Engineer Carolyn Duby, both of Cloudera, to get acquainted with Apache Kafka. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
