Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 6:00:00 PM Stowers Institute 1000 E 50th St, Kansas City,

We love Web Development and all things PHP. Our meetings are often a little free-formed, but we shoot for this schedule:

6:00pm - Mingling / Meet and Greet

6:15pm - Lightning Talk:
* Last Month in PHP

6:30pm - How to be an Awesome Ally with Lindsey Padget

Most of us want tech to be an equitable and inclusive place where everyone feels comfortable. But it can be intimidating - or even frustrating - when it feels like the target is always moving. The things that didn't seem like a problem yesterday suddenly are, and we're not sure what we should be doing instead. Rather than approaching this subject with anger or blame, we will instead focus on understanding and practical advice you can use to make your workplace more enjoyable and welcoming to all.

Lyndsey (https://twitter.com/LyndseyPadget) is a technology leader with over 15 years of software and web development experience at both mega-corporations and startups. She enjoys sharing in-depth knowledge on topics such as Git & release management, MEAN stack development, microservices & REST, test-driven development, agile & kanban, healthy teams, diversity & inclusion, public speaking, and more. Lyndsey is involved in local organizations that encourage women, young and old, to explore careers in math and science. She believes that the difference between a good software engineer and a great one often has little to do with code.

If you are interested in speaking or would like to suggest a future topic please suggest one: (http://www.meetup.com/kcphpug/suggestion/)

All Developers and Non-Developers Welcome!

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious and just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Laminas, Laravel, Slim, Laravel, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla; our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Park in any visitor space in the parking garage and enter the main building from the west. Follow the signs for PHP User Group and turn right at the security desk. Click here for event
