About Frank Munz
Dr Frank Munz works as a Senior Technical Evangelist for Amazon Web Services with focus on cloud native/containers, machine learning and big/fast data.

With over 20 years of professional experience in distributed systems, Java EE, microservices, SOA, and cloud computing, Frank has published 17 scientific articles in computer science and brain research as well as three computer science text books used by lecturers of US universities.

His prolific global and cross industry experience in IT was awarded with the Technologist of the Year Award Cloud Computing (2011) and his nomination as an independently working Oracle ACE Director (2013). 2017 he was nominated one of the first Developer Champions.

Frank holds a Ph.D. with summa cum laude in computer science from the Technische Universität München. He spent 4 years in super computing and the development of functional algorithms for human brain research and oncology. He speaks regularly at conferences all over the world such as Devoxx, Java One, and Web Summit.

Frank sold his first computer program (a kind of a mini e-business suite) with 16 years. After having jobs as a furniture mover in Paris he hired as a data scientist at the German Cancer Research Center with the team of Prof. zur Hausen. The study Frank worked on later won the Nobel prize in medicine for linking a human virus (HPV) to the development of cancer.

Just recently Frank unlocked his goal to present at major conferences on every continent except Antarctica. He enjoys to write about himself in the third person.
