Abstract:

We're in the midst of renewed interest in functional programming. At the same time we see quite a bit of excitement around reactive programming. Where did reactive programming come from? How is it related to functional programming, if at all? In this presentation we will discuss the merits of reactive programming and how functional programming concepts seamlessly transition into the programming model espoused by reactive programming.

Location Information

Security & Parking
When you reach the security gate, you will need to be in the leftmost lane in order to have security check your name and let you through the gate. Tell the security officer that you are attending the Kansas City Java User Group on campus. They will verify your name and should direct you to parking. If they do not direct you to parking, you may ask, or use the map above as a reference. Guests may park in any spot in the designated lot that is not specifically reserved. Handicap parking is also available in this lot.

Entering the Building
The building requires badge access to enter. There will be a few Cerner associates at the entrance marked on the map with a yellow circle to badge people in and help direct you to the Event Center in the Link building. If you find yourself at a different entrance, a sign should be posted with directions on how to get to the entrance marked on the map.

Innovations Campus Ettiquette
As this is a place of business, typical business ettiquette is expected. Beyond the typical ettiquette, it is important to note the security of the campus. Badge access is required to exit all doored stairwells, except for building exits. Elevators also require badge access after hours. Unfortunately, there is no campus tour scheduled as part of the meetup. Visitors wandering the building without a Cerner associate escorting them may be asked to leave or escorted off campus by security.
