Dave Swersky Speaker Bio:

Dave Swersky has been working in IT for over 20 years, in roles from support engineer, to software developer, to Enterprise Architect. Dave is an aspiring polyglot, and passionate about all things DevOps. When he's not writing code, he's writing about code (or about people who write code.) Dave can be found on Twitter @dswersky and soon at <a>www.devopskatas.com.</a>

Abstract:

Packer is a very cool little image builder from the makers of Vagrant. Using Packer, a single JSON file and one command will take you from an OS disc image to a fully provisioned desktop or server image. Dave will demonstrate using Packer (with a few of its friends) for fun and infrastructure profit.

Dave will demonstrate how he is using Packer to develop a learning VM. We'll review the JSON format, the Packer application, and the build process. He'll also show how I'm using Jenkins to orchestrate the build, Ansible to provision additional components, and RSpec/ServerSpec to test the results.
