HUG Access SIG Meeting 6:30 pm, August 19, 2015, at JCCC, Regnier Center

Presentation 1:  "Building your Business on LinkedIn"
Presenter:   Dan Stalp

Description:    Ever wonder why LinkedIn is only considered a “marketing” tool rather than a “business development” tool?  Wonder no more!  During this interactive session you will discover how to:
Turn people who want to connect with you into appointments.
Get more specific about who you want to target on LinkedIn.
Strategically ask and get referrals from LinkedIn

Dan is President of Sandler Training, Kansas City – a proven, trademarked selling method. He has more than 25 years of experience in sales, management, and business ownership from the financial services and sales training industries.
He is co-host of the “Sales & Marketing Answer Men” radio blog program on Thinking Bigger Radio every Thursday morning from 9-9:30 AM
Dan is blessed to be a mentor with the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program. He is asked to be interviewed on numerous panels and radio programs concerning sales, sales management and leadership.
He has co-authored two books “The Reunion” (2011) and “Another Reunion” (2013) about pursuing a life of significance rather than success in one’s life.
Dan is board president of the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas, on the executive board for Gift of Life Foundation, and the advisory board for National Christian Foundation.
He is married to Lisa since 1991 and they have four children – two daughters and two sons ages 22, 19, 16, and 14. Lisa is a clinical psychologist with the Rehabilitation Institute in Kansas City, Missouri.

Presentation 2:   “Managing Menus and Shopping Lists for Day Camp Meals”
Presenter: Susie Gilson

Description:  Susie will present her day camp shopping list generator.  Every camp unit cooks out, and each unit has 2 meal choices and 4 dessert choices.  How does one manage variable meal choices and get shopping lists generated quickly to buy in bulk and optimize spending? Susie’s method allows each unit to make their own selections and for the shopper to have an aggregated shopping list. At the same time, the kitchen staff has a unit by unit break down of ingredients. Feedback from the kitchen on amounts per person can easily be incorporated for next year.  Recipes can also be entered when the food selections change next year.

Presenter Bio: Susie Gilson has been a mostly self-taught Access user since 1995. She just recently took classes at JCCC to hone her VBA skills. For the most part, she uses Access in her volunteer work for Girl Scouts, though she’s also happy to fix the databases her husband brings home from work!
