Title: Building a Crime Database in Microsoft Access

Description: I linked to the Johnson County Sheriff's office website ( while reading a newspaper article and this could be a good example of organizing and using information in a database.

Janet Gelsinger has participated in the Heartland Access User Group since about 1996 and works at Hallmark Cards as a Data Analyst for the website. Janet’s IT career began with computer software support and progressed to a primary focus on data as both a DBA and Data Analyst, working on database administration, development and design on Access, Oracle, Teradata and most recently, SQL Server.

Title: Using Microsoft Visio to create and plan databases and communicate with clients

Caren Grandgenett is an Adjunct Assistant Professor - Business Entrepreneurship and Technology at Johnson County Community College.
