Meeting Topic:   The PMO in an Agile World

This will be a sponsored event.  Dinner will be provided.  To help our sponsor get an accurate count, please go to www.agilekc.org to register.

Meeting Learning:

In organizations that utilize a Project Management Office, the evolution and adoption of collaborative and iterative processes can sometimes conflict with established practices.  In addition there are often changes in the way work is allocated and tracked vs. a traditional process.  This session will help illustrate some of the differences and changes and provide some insights to what has worked in the past from a PMO perspective.

Meeting Description:

Why do some PMOs resist Agile and others embrace it?  The answer to this question goes beyond individual personalities and preferences and gets to the heart of the mission and vision of a given PMO.  This presentation will profile different “flavors” of PMOs and discuss how each might perceive the both the opportunities and threats that will arise from a large-scale transition to agile.

If your organization has a PMO, please encourage some of those team members to join us for this meeting, regardless of where you feel your are in your Agile journey.   We want to hear from your teams about what challenges they face and what impediments they see.

About the Speaker:

Ron Montgomery is a project management consultant with 36 years of experience with development and deployment of IT solutions and has worked with agile since 2005.  He has established, consulted with and worked within client PMOs in both agile and traditional frameworks.

Ron holds both the Project Management Professional (PMP) and the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner certification sponsored by the Project Management Institute (PMI).  Ron also holds the Certified Scrum Master designation from the Scrum Alliance and the Scaled Agile Program Consultant by the Scaled Agile Academy.
