Presenter: Joshua Mitchell

Abstract:

I'm going to talk about setting up a GraphQL API in the Django Framework. I will briefly cover GraphQL basics and then dive in to implementing GraphQL in Python using Graphene. We'll explore schema setup, querying, mutations and what those things mean in Graphene. Finally, I'll include brief mentions to what this means for a frontend developer consuming the API.

Bio:
Joshua is a self taught creative web and application developer who loves taking concepts and turning them into working technology. He works as a "full stack" developer at GPS Impact, a political digital consultancy. In 2014 he helped code organizing and phonebanking technology for the Kansas Governor's race. Since then he has dabbled in multiple frameworks and languages building everything from data management toolsets to frontend heavy splash pages. He currently is moving his internal APIs over to a python served GraphQL endpoint with a React/Apollo frontend for consumption.
