Luke Smith will discuss a recent experience with an industrial supply distributor, converting their static website into a dynamic web application, hurdles that had to be overcome, and advice for anyone looking to break into independent software development. Technologies that will be discussed include Node.js, Bootstrap Framework, Gulp.js Task-runner, .NET MVC partial views, and templates. Luke will also discuss how to create an internal platform for creating rapid-prototype websites. Code examples will be shown in combination with a live demonstration of a web application.

Luke is eager .Net Developer that graduated from Centriq Training's Developer Track in spring of 2016. As a young person, Luke studied engineering principles through Olathe School District's 21st Century Aerospace and Engineering Program. The program provides students with introductory course material to engineering principles combined with fostering an engineering mindset. As a college student, Luke studied entrepreneurship at Johnson County Community College. Luke leverages the engineering background and an entrepreneurial mindset, to come up with an outside the box approach to development.
