  • Recommendation engines are ubiquitous on the web, but for data scientists used to building predictive models, common approaches can be a little hard to understand. Yashwanth and Matt from Pinsight Media will discuss their journey in creating a recommendation engine for mobile apps, what different approaches can be used, and show examples using PySpark.
Data Scientists often need to make their work accessible to others in a way that is both dynamic and interactive but most data scientists are not full blown web developers. This poses a problem. Matthew Russell from C2FO will talk about how you can leverage a couple Python libraries to avoid getting lost in the weeds. Spyre runs on the minimalist Python web framework Cherrypy with Jinja2 templating and can readily accommodate Pandas dataframes or Matplotlib objects. Pygal is a dynamic SVG charting library written in Python and Bokeh is an interactive visualization library that targets modern web browsers for presentation.
