Difficult Debugging: Learning from Utter Nonsense
For programmers, debugging is a frequently encountered task. Most of the time the issue is trivial and the solution easily uncovered. Unfortunately, there are times where a bug’s symptoms are confusing and trick us into evaluating the problem erroneously. As a result, we lose a lot of time investigating and testing.
We’ll explore a bug that took about a solid month of investigation to figure out and resolve. This bug was so simple and its results so sporadic that even with four engineers looking at it, no one knew what was going on. However, with the right techniques, this bug could have been solved in under a week and I’m going to show you how.
As a bonus, I will introduce tools and techniques which will help you with day-to-day development and debugging. These techniques are focused on web development, but can be applicable to most developers.
    What you’ll learn:
    •  How bugs can mislead investigative efforts
    •  How to tackle perplexing bugs
    •  Tools and techniques which will help with day-to-day developing and debugging
    •  Linters (JSLint/ESLint) — why you should use them
    •  Introduction to built-in browser tools

C2FO will be providing food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

    • Uptown Func<> Delegates for Everyday Development
Do delegates seem too cryptic and complicated for everyday development? Are you confused every time you see a Lambda expression in code? They don't have to be so mysterious, because .NET brings you a plethora of built-in functionality and C# makes them easy to use. In this session we'll Func up until you've got a handle on how delegates work.  We'll explore how, why, and when you should use delegates in your code. You will see examples of practical applications for everyday development use and how delegates and Lambdas bring you closer to mastery of Linq.

    • Greetings,
We have two presentations on the list:
      1) The first presentation deals with issues of accessibility and assistive technology in Linux. What's out there in the world of open source for people with disabilities? The scheduled talk includes a general look at assistive tech followed by some demonstrations of accessibility devices using the Raspberry Pi.
      2) "I don't know. I will come up with something." -Joey :-)
Should be a good time as always and I look forward to hearing what the presenters have as well as seeing all of you!
