KC Open Hardware Group in partnership with SainLabs is proud to announce our first Robotics Build Challenge!
JULY 18th and 19th
Show us your robots! And, tell us what it does. Prove your genius to earn top engineering bragging rights.
You could win some cool swag and prizes!!
Overview:
Teams of 2 to 4 will work together to build a basic robot using provided parts as well as items teams are able to source (eg. Extra sensors, Upgrades to wheels, etc.).
The teams will program the robot to accomplish a series of challenge tasks for the robot to complete.
Teams are judged on their application of technology principles, engineering concepts and their ability to solve real-world problems through a team approach. At the completion of the event KCOHG will work with the winning teams to create an Open Source Kit for the Open Hardware Community.
Objectives:
  • Provide an opportunity for those new to robotics, students and experienced makers to program a robot to successfully complete challenge tasks.
  • Allow beginning programmers to learn basic robot control techniques using rotation, light, touch, or distance sensors.
  • Encourage advanced programmers to share their knowledge and experiment with advanced programming approaches.
  • Provide a cooperative environment where teams are encouraged to share ideas and learn from one another.
Event Schedule:
  • June 8th signup goes live online for teams
  • July 3rd deadline for team submissions
Judging:
  • Robot design that supports the Open Source Hardware definition.
  • Robot is well made and functional, and safe in use.
  • Robot completes the challenges in a creative, fun, interesting way.
  • Robot makes good use of the parts provided to the teams.
Additional Information:
Teams will be provided with a basic set of components and parts provided by our sponsors, however there are no limits are placed on the design of the robot or sensors to be used to complete the challenge other than keeping within the guideline of Open Source.
LAPTOPS, SUPPLIES, ETC. ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAMS – they will not be provided by the organizers.
