Presentation 1
Title:   Supporting and Enhancing a badly designed database
Presenter:  Leo Schlife

Description: I took over the database work from an extremely intelligent person who knew nothing about databases, and thus had a poorly designed database structure.
I moved it from a flat file to a relational database.  It is now better as far as reporting…but still has a long way to go to be a “good” database.
I will cover entering the cases, creating errors, reporting to the agencies, etc.

Bio: I work for the State of Kansas in Topeka.  My department is MEQC (Medicaid Eligibility Quality Control).  I have always loved databases, but most of my life have never had a position that forced me to continue to advance my skills.  Now, my job depends upon it!  Each project we do has some different goals and the database design will change accordingly.  The database design, from concept to final reporting, it my responsibility.

Presentation 2

Title:  Excel – Full Throttle
Presenter:  Caren Grandgenett
Description: See similarities between an advanced Access project and an advanced Excel project.  Forms and VBA code work similarly in Access and Excel.  Many of our clients have Excel rather than Access, so we often work with both programs and share data in Excel.

Bio: CAREN GRANDGENETT - Database Development Specialist
We develop and maintain databases that allow our clients to track their clients and competitors.  We answer business questions with data and analysis. Caren is a Learner so teaches Business and Technology classes at JCCC.
