There are a lot of exciting things you can do with the big data eco system of technologies. However, there are a lot of mundane, low hanging fruit, small barrier to entry use cases that allow for quick wins as well. There are even some "small data" use cases that big data tech can help you accomplish much more effectively than old world tools.

A successful big data implementation begins with proper understanding of your use case and the various options you have to implement what you want to do.

We're going to do a crawl across the entire portfolio of popular big data technologies. We're going to match use case with business case with technology. We'll take a look at the various options you have for implementation, what resources you'll need, and what resources are available to you. Basically, I'm going to open up the Erector set that is big data tech and show you what you can build.

The goal of the evening will be to show you how quickly you can stand up a big data effort and see benefits rapidly while at the same time, ensuring that the architecture decisions you make early on, will not have an adverse impact on future growth.

Everybody from all career fields and levels are welcome. I'd like to especially invite people from outside of IT to including but not limited, academics, marketing, business development, finance and accounting, customer support, operations, C-suite, etc. This will be an executive level and relatively non-technical discussion.

Doors open at 6:30 with the presentation beginning at 7:00. It should not last more than an hour. I will hang around after to answer any questions you might have.

He is the principal of Mass Street Analytics, LLC. Mass Street is a Hortonworks Consultant Partner and Confluent Partner.

In his spare time, he likes to work on an equity investment application that combines various sources of information to automatically arrive at investing decisions. When he's not doing that, you'll find him flying his A-10 simulator. Full CV can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bobwakefieldmba/
