Is Hadoop a SQL Killer?

This presentation will explore what Hadoop looks like in a SQL Server environment and how it may or may not affect your role as a DBA. We'll explore ways in which Hadoop can compliment and enhance your SQL Server environment as well as where Hadoop may potentially replace certain processes.  We'll also discuss how a SQL DBA can leverage existing skill sets to work with Hadoop and how you can acquire additional skills to make you a better DBA and data management professional.  

About Scott:

Scott Shaw has over a decade experience in data management, He is a frequent speaker at local and national community events and has co-authored two books on T-SQL. He teaches as well as implements Pig, Hive, Hadoop, as well as teaches courses on SQL Server, and Microsoft BI. He is currently working on a book titled "Practical Hive” to be published by Apress publishing. He lives in Saint Louis and is a Solutions Engineer for Hortonworks.
