First Smarter SharePoint Mtg for 2014 is on Tuesday, January 28th. Our guest speaker will be Matthew Harkins from Hallmark.

 SharePoint Consultant at DEG
Here is a quick summary of what will be discussed:
Microsoft makes it quite simple for small businesses to access data from remote SQL Server databases using the Business Connectivity Services (BCS), but larger corporations and companies that do not use SQL Server as their primary database have several hurdles to overcome before external data can be made available to SharePoint sites through BCS. In this session, we will explore several options for accessing these remote data sources and review opportunities for enhancing the end user experience and streamline the effort of IT Pros as they customize External Content Types to handle rigorous data quality requirements and move solutions between environments. We will also review a few Microsoft tools that can make short work of these complex configurations (SharePoint Designer and InfoPath Designer).
