Resurrecting the Kansas City Atlassian User Group

In February 2012, we had our first Kansas City Atlassian User Group (KCAUG) meeting. In the kick-off we covered what tools we used, what topics we were interested in, and how we should meet going forward. We had hopes to schedule a second meeting to dive down into the most wanted topics, but it never happened.
2013 is a new year and a new KCAUG! We are wanting to resurrect the meetings and pick up where we left off. We want to start an active collaborative community of Atlassian Users in the Kansas City Metro.

When: Friday, March 8th 2013 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Where: The DST Conference Center is located at 1055 Broadway, Kansas City MO 64105. Parking information will be posted soon.

Parking and Building Access: Attendees can park in the 10 Central parking garage located at 1016 Central Street. The parking garage entrance is located off the intersection of 10^th and Broadway (Northeast Corner- Next to the Quality Hill Playhouse). Enter the garage and take a ticket. Exit the parking garage using the west stairwell. You will exit the parking garage on to the circle driveway in front of the 1055 Broadway building. Check-in at the security desk, someone will be there to greet you.

January 9th: Tonight: OWASP - Barry Archer shows "Using XSS", "SQL Injection" and "LFI" attacks

Tonight Barry Archer will be doing a couple of quick
demonstrations of three web application attacks (publicly disclosed and
fixed) that he learned about at BlackHat.

1. Using XSS (cross site scripting) in an email field to steal a
privileged PHP SessionID that then is used to log in as an admin.

2. Blind SQL injection on an application using MySQL on the back end.
This demonstrates how timing was used to enumerate an MD5 hash from a
vulnerable
application.

3. A nifty example of how LFI (Local File Inclusion) in a PHP application
can result in a remote shell.

Barry will talk about how these vulnerabilities get exploited and,
most importantly,
how to spot and prevent similar issues in your applications.

As usual there will be ample opportunities to meet and chat with Kansas
City's finest and friendliest information security folks.

Location is in Westport at McCoy's Foundry (in the meeting room between the
Foundry and the Patio side of the restaurant so we can use the big screen
for presentation purposes.)

On January 11th we're ringing in 2013 with Venture Friday's popular Speed Meeting format. With fifty or more conversations taking place in under two hours, you're sure to find that special someone who will support your startup dreams.

If you're not familiar with the format, here's how it goes: Four people are seated per group. Each person has one minute to talk, followed by two minutes for open group Q&A, then we switch to a completely new group of four. Afterward everyone will have up to an hour of casual chat time as usual. We find that Speed Meeting is a terrific way for all types (vigilant, outspoken, aloof, watchful, reserved, sensitive, demure, shy, etc) to connect.

Bring plenty of business cards; you may meet more than one lucky man or woman you'll want to join in a long-term business relationship. We also encourage you to keep an open mind; just because someone isn't "the one" you're looking for today doesn't mean you can't be friends and share expertise/connections down the road. Get ready to make some great first impressions. Overuse of cologne not encouraged, but optional.
